The Curly Coated Retriever: The Earliest of the Retrievers

The Curly Coated Retriever (frequently referred to as a Curly) was believed to originally be reproduced in England for upland bird and waterfowl hunting. Out of all the retrievers, the Curly is the highest and easily recognizable by the tight, crisp curls that cover their bodies. It is thought that this type is a mix of the Poodle, Water Spaniel and setter families. The Curly’s origins can be traced back to 16th century England, which would make him the earliest of the retrievers.

The Curly is a really active and well-muscled dog however constructed a little differently than the majority of the more typical retrievers.
